HPI- The House Price Index is a weighted, repeat-sales index and is created by measuring average price changes of refinancings and existing home sales. The information is collected by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and features mortgages that have been purchased or otherwise secured by the above mentioned agencies and dates back to January of 1975.

Monthly updates are made available for the United States as a whole and regions while quarterly updates are made available for all other geographies including many city/housing areas.

The data included here is considered an “All-Transactions” house price index.  This means that appraisal values from refinanced mortgages are added to purchase-only data set.
